ONTO TENNESSEE

We left Big Bone Lick Friday 9/21/18.  A perk for Fredrick:  Engine Brake Switch on the dash that Josie didn't have. It is to be used when going down steep grades.  Like the one leaving Big Bone Lick Campground!  Drove to Oh Kentucky RV Park in Berea Kentucky.  Full Hookup so I could do laundry.  Did 4 loads Saturday in the nice stacked washer/dryer in Fredrick.  Another Big perk over Josie!!!  The rain started Saturday and it hasn't stopped...  We went to the Super Walmart across the Highway and got 2 weeks of groceries.

Sunday, still raining....  Got Fredrick all buttoned up and ready to travel.  While hooking the Jeep to tow, heard a loud clunking noise. Uh Oh.  That doesn't sound good.  Continued on to Standing Stone State Park in Hilham Tennessee.  We are now in Central Time Zone.  Feels like the time change in the Spring/Fall right now!  Confusing and tired!!!

Standing Stone has 38 sites.  Very small and filled with hills, curves and hardly any campers right now.  Couldn't find the check in station. We drove thru the camp and couldn't find site 20 that we had reserved online.  Thought we were in the wrong place.  Drove back out to the main road, unhooked the Jeep and called the office for directions.  We were in the right place and did not have to find the check in office since we had reserved online.  So back we went with me following Fredrick in the Jeep.  Still couldn't find site 20.  Not marked very well at all.  FINALLY found it by turning on a little road by the bath house.  You would think there would be a sign 20 with an arrow!  The site was not as level as we needed...  Greg finally decided to back in at an angle and he backed onto boards we laid out to bring the back end up so it would level. YAY!  Got it!  Greg hooked the electric/water while I put out the slides etc.  We then turned on the satellite.  Nope.  No signal.  Too many trees.  Ran the air TV for local channels.  Only 4 and none very interesting.  Gonna be a LONG week!  He then looked under the hood of Jeep to see if he could figure out the clunk noise.  Not really, but guessing water or power steering pump getting ready to go....  It's REALLY gonna be a long week.  We are in the middle of nowhere and are leery to drive the Jeep right now for fear of getting stranded.  Many places around here have no cell service, but luckily, there are 2 blips on my phone while at the campsite.  YAY.

Monday,
Another problem....  Raining still.  Now there is a wet spot on the carpet in the bedroom.  Water tricking down the corner. No ladder to caulk the outside seam, no caulk and too wet to caulk anyway....  Oh the joys of RV'ing...  Guess I am being a grump today.   Gotta take the good with the bad.  Bad outweighing the good today.....

ANOTHER BUSY DAY IN KENTUCKY

Another day of keeping busy in Kentucky!

Greg did a check under the hood of Fredrick and saw that the antifreeze/coolant level was a little low.  A sticker on the side of the container said to use Purple...  We went to Pilot, TA & Freightliner, all about 9 miles away, to try to get some.  Kind of looking for a needle in a haystack!  Freightliner said they don't carry it, but to go to TA Service Center, not the store.  Went back and got 2 gallons....

We then went to Rabbit Hash Kentucky.  About a 15 mile drive on hilly scenic roads.  A very small little town, but it is on  the Historical Register. Population 315!  The mayor is an animal.  Current Mayor, Lucy Lu passed away September 11, 2018.  She was a 12 year old Border Collie.  An election will be held soon for a new mayor.  The voters pay $1.00 per vote and the money goes into preserving the community..  The General Store burned down in 2016 and was rebuilt by the community and is back to it's full glory!  It is an interesting little town, more of a village!  We enjoyed the trip and watching the HUGE barge pushing it's way up the Ohio River.  Rabbit Hash is across the Ohio River from Rising Sun Indiana.  Another good day!  Hot, but no rain.

BACK TO BLOGGIN'

Been awhile.  Time to get back to Bloggin'

We had been in Ohio since October 2017.....  A lot has happened.  Some good.  Some not so good.....  Rather than go into it all, I am just going to start with where we are now.  Even tho the Blog is still called The Outlaw Josie Gilk, we are now in Fredrick.  We traded Josie for Fredrick March 3, 2018.  We wanted more living space and did not need the garage  in Josie.

We Left Ohio Sunday September 16 2018.  We are now camping @ Big Bone Lick State Park.  We had a hard time getting level on the site we had reserved online.  We talked to the Camp Host and moved 1 site over.  Leveled with just a few boards!  Even tho sites say Flat on the website, that is not always the case!!!!

It rained almost all day Monday September 17 So we just watched TV hung around the campground.  No satellite here.  Too
many trees.  We are at the mercy of "air" TV and watched Criminal Mind reruns all day & evening...

The rain ended and the sun was out for us to explore on Tuesday September 18.  We went to the Museum at the entrance of the Park.  Enjoyed walking thru there and reading about the history of Big Bone Lick.

We also walked the trail to the Salt Spring.  Very Hot and Humid!

Greg was tired after the walk and sat in the Jeep while I walked the trail to see the Bison.  Very Hot & Sticky!!!  I got to see them tho!

We came back to Fredrick for lunch and a bit of rest.  We then took Otis and drove to the entrance again to find the swinging walk bridge.  Pretty cool!  It did swing when we walked on it!

After checking out the bridge, we  drove to Florence Kentucky, about 10 miles away, to get gas for the Jeep.  Got it at Thorton's for $2.53 with our 6¢ off VIP reward. Every where around the freeway was $2.88.  Worth the drive!!!

Trying something new by using the Notepad to write this and am hoping to copy/paste into blog when I fire up the Verizon MiFi to get on the internet.....  Sure hope it works!
YAY! It did!!!
