CATCHING UP-10/4/2018

It rained everyday we were at Standing Stone Mountain in Hilham Tennessee.  We left 2 days earlier than planned so we could drop the Jeep off @ East Tennessee Jeep Dealer for diagnosis.  The Jeep Dealer was not able to get to the diagnosis on Friday September 28th, so we went on to Cumberland Mountain State Park, Crossville Tennessee, where we had reservations starting Sunday September 30th anyway.  We were meeting our friends Steve & Brenda from Knoxville Tennessee for a week of camping with them.  They pulled in Sunday around 11 AM.  SO good to see them!  Had been a year!!

Greg got a call from Service Writer George Monday morning @ Jeep dealer. George said the Power Steering Pump was going bad & after a thorough check up, also found rear brakes needed replaced and Emergency Brake Shoes which are separate from the other brakes.  He said we could choose not fix the emergency brake and just not use it, but we use it all the time when we are hooking/unhooking from Fredrick so Greg told him to fix and that added around $500 to the bill.  George said it should be ready Tuesday around noon.  Total bill $1300.  Not really glad about that, but we have not put any money into since we bought it and it IS a 2004 with 135,000 miles.  Just glad it is fixed and we didn’t get stranded in the middle of nowhere.

We spent the afternoon playing games with Steve/Brenda.  Rummikub & a card game Scat.  Fun times!  We had Tater Soup that I fixed and watched a movie on our outside TV til 9.  Hotel Transylvania 2, a very cute animated film that we all chuckled at quite a few times.  It was a good day even with the tiny sprinkle that went thru around 5 pm.  We got the call that the Jeep was ready a little after 5 instead of noon, so we decided not to go into town to get it until Weds.

Steve drove all of us into Crossville around 10 or so.  Got the Jeep.  George told us the reason it wasn’t ready Tues. @ noon like they thought was because when the test drive was done it was leaking coolant.  Apparently the mechanic braced his elbow on the radiator while installing the power steering pump and cracked a hose outlet on the radiator.  Couldn’t be fixed, so they put in a new radiator.  No cost to us.  That was an unexpected plus! We paid the bill and then went to Walmart to get what is needed for next week when we head to Alabama.  Steve & Brenda headed back to camp.  We played Dominoes all afternoon once we got back.  Steve/Brenda had put a roast/carrots in crock pot and had mashed taters/gravy with it.  Mini Corn muffins too.  YUM  We had bought some iced brownies from the bakery for dessert.  YUM YUM

AN AFTERNOON PLAYING DOMINOES

Didn't think to take a pic of the yummy roast dinner Steve/Brenda prepared for us.  OOOPS.
